Week 04

If you have Instagram then you probably know the most recent controversy they were involved in. It was rumored a few months ago in August the public was notified that the social media app was changing their privacy policy. After a certain date the new policy would allegedly have user's instagram private pictures and utilize them for anyone's use if they pleased whether that being used in legal action, advertisements, immunization from liability, etc. This seemed to have caught many user's attention leading them to post a "you do not have my permission to use my private photos" statement thinking that they would be free of any social media dangers. Little did these people know that Instagram already has the right to use and share user's pictures, when first signing up for Instagram in the terms and agreements page they disclose that the company can and will collect your information that you share on the site if they want to. In all, the mass posts about revoking Instagram using other people's pictures was a hoax and were completely null and void because they already have your permission and information as soon as you had signed up.
